What is ASP?

ASP stands for Active Server Pages, which are HTML pages with the embedded ASP scripts that are processed on the server before the page is sent to the user. With the ASP, you can make dynamic database driven pages. A user can access data in a database and interact with the page objects such as Active X or Java components. ASP web hosting refers to the web hosting companies that provides support for ASP, Active Server Page.

When a user look a web site developed using ASP, depending on the actions of the user the pages can change. ASP code makes you able to link the web pages to a database, where the users can interact with the web pages by simply logging in, using their own personal settings or they can also interactively put orders on the site.

You should know how the ASP work, firstly you have to type a URL in the address bar or simply click on the web pages that you are asking the web server for sending a file to the computer. Keep it in mind that if the file is standard HTML, then at the time when your web browser receives the web page, it will appear exactly the same it did on the web server. Although if an ASP file is sent to the computer from the web server, then server would operate HTML code, and then operate the ASP code.

Finding a right web host is also an important thing. It is good and safer for you to host the ASP pages on Windows 2000 server.
